It is hard to believe that the very first term of the LHC Junior School is already drawing to a close. What a Term it has been!
Our students have settled into their new school environment and have begun forming new friendships. It has been wonderful to see so many students participating in the wide range of Co-curricular activities available across Sport, Culture, and Service. As part of the Instrumental Program, all students are learning a musical instrument and, in just one Term, are already beginning to produce beautiful music—a testament to the time and effort they’ve put into practising at home.
The highlight of the Term for our Year 5 students was camp, where they spent three days at Apex Camps on the Sunshine Coast. Throughout the camp, students built resilience, developed teamwork skills, and strengthened their connections with one another. Thank you to our class teachers and school officers for supporting students through this pivotal experience.
Our Year 6 students have embraced their role as the inaugural leaders of the Junior School. A highlight this Term has been the discernment process to appoint our very first Junior School Leaders, who will form the Junior School Student Council. Students submitted written applications and, if shortlisted, participated in a formal interview. The Junior School Leadership Team will be announced in the final week of Term 1.
We asked some of our Junior School students to reflect on their first Term at LHC:
“We absolutely love our Junior School! Our teachers care for us as we expand our knowledge and friendships. We’ve had so much fun at lots of activities— aerobics, swimming, art and more. At lunchtimes, we enjoy going to the Library or Joy in the Junior School. Our school is kind, caring and fun!”
— Amelia T, Olivia C, Aella H & Emily S (Year 5)
“The teachers welcomed us with open arms and big smiles, and there have been so many new and inclusive friendships formed. The opportunities are endless, including more responsibility, like taking our instruments home and walking around the school independently. There are so many options for Co-curricular activities—Dance, Aerobics and our Netball team! As we walked through the doors, we knew this was where we were meant to be.”
— Jasmine J, Isabelle L, Arabella D (Year 6)
It has been a privilege and a pleasure to journey through Term 1 with our inaugural Junior School students. We look forward to everything Term 2 will bring.
