Lourdes Day 2025: A Celebration of Growth, Legacy, and Purpose
Lourdes Day 2025 was a significant milestone for us at Lourdes Hill College. We celebrated the completion of key stages in our Master Plan, which included new and refurbished facilities. We welcomed staff, students, parents, and special guests, including the Archbishop of Brisbane, Fr Kevin Smith, Fr Pan Jordan, and Senator Anthony Chisholm.
Our Master Plan, initiated in 2018 in partnership with Wilson Architects, was designed to enhance our College’s facilities and environment. This year, we celebrated the completion of Stage 1, which includes:
We carefully balanced new construction with thoughtful refurbishment to minimise environmental impact and model stewardship. The Australian Government’s funding was crucial for the Santa Teresa Junior School, and many stakeholders—including Wilson Architects and Trowse Construction—contributed to the project’s success. Turner & Townsend and Towill Design played key roles in project management and delivery. We are grateful to our College Board, Building Committee, General Manager of Infrastructure, and staff for their dedication and support throughout the project. A special acknowledgment goes to Ms. Trish Linehan, whose "Leaves for Lourdes" art installation, inspired by the local eucalyptus leaves, symbolises resilience and the enduring spirit of our College.
Buildings Are Just That—Buildings, some are beautiful. Some are functional. But it is the people within them who create the heart and spirit and bring their purpose to life. At Lourdes Hill College, that is our students and staff. It is now up to us, together, to bring life and meaning to these spaces—to have the courage to try new things, to be brave enough to open our minds, our learning, and our classrooms to each other, and to continue the legacy of education and learning gifted to us by the Good Samaritan Sisters. As we step into these new and renewed spaces, let us always look to the Star guiding our learning, teaching, and growth. Bring these spaces to life so that you are, and can be, an empowering and transforming presence in our school, community, and the wider world.
