Middle School Thriving at Lourdes Hill College in 2025

The Middle School is thriving at Lourdes Hill College in 2025. Students have been actively engaged in a range of Home Group and House activities, embracing our Benedictine value of Hospitality to build new friendships and relationships. Our Middle School students have approached their learning with curiosity and enthusiasm, developing new skills, exploring new subjects, and participating in a variety of co-curricular activities.

Thank you to the Parents and Caregivers who attended our Parent Information Evenings. Our Middle School Curriculum Overviews and Assessment Calendars are available on the College App to support families in understanding what their daughters are learning and the types of assessment in each subject. We encourage parents to use these resources to assist their daughters with their studies.

Year 7 Camp was a fantastic experience for our Year 7 students, directly supporting their learning within the Stella Wellbeing Framework. This camp focused on Engagement, Relationships, Health through physical activity, and exploring Meaning and Purpose. Students participated in canoeing, orienteering, archery, and high ropes courses, while the evening program provided spirituality activities, including reflection on the parable of the Good Samaritan and our Benedictine Values. Thank you to all LHC staff who organised and attended the camp.

Middle School student leaders develop their leadership skills through our Benedictine Values, including hospitality, courage, integrity, patience, inclusion, resilience, and discernment. Congratulations to our Middle School Leaders, who have done an outstanding job organising Magic in the Middle School lunchtime activities in Jamberoo Court with Mrs. McClure. Students have enjoyed drawing, made loom bands, and taken part in student vs. staff handball games.

Student Leadership and Student Voice are integral to Lourdes Hill College, providing benefits to students, the College, and the broader community. Throughout their journey at LHC, students are encouraged to participate in a broad range of formal and informal leadership opportunities through curriculum, pastoral care, co-curricular programs, and community life. Leadership roles arise daily, whether in the classroom, volunteering throughout the College, or being a member of a co-curricular or service group.

Our student leaders serve the Lourdes Hill College community through our strategic pillars to Empower, Transform, and have a Benedictine Presence. In 2025, Middle School students have stepped into leadership as Middle School Leaders, Middle School House Representatives, and Middle School Co-curricular Captains. We are also excited to introduce our newly appointed Year 8 and Year 9 Junior School Sisters, who have already begun mentoring our Junior School students.

Middle School leaders celebrated Galentine’s Day by handing out purple heart-shaped chocolates to staff and students in the Middle and Junior School during lunchtime. Leaders Jocelyn and Sienna generously crocheted 65 purple hearts for staff and students to wear on the day, demonstrating the values of kindness and community.

We are proud to have 10 Middle School Leaders for 2025, each dedicated to serving and representing our LHC Middle School community.
