Performing Arts at Lourdes Hill College encompasses a diverse range of disciplines including Dance, Drama and Music that blend creativity, skill and expression to create memorable experiences designed to captivate and engage our students.
Performance Arts Groups
Dance at Lourdes Hill College is an inclusive program that caters to all levels of experience and skill, providing students with opportunities to explore Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Show routines. Through rehearsals, performances, and competitions, students develop confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of community.
Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning by choreographing their own routines and performing at Eisteddfods, College functions, and community events. A highlight of the dance calendar is The Spirit of Dance (Dance Night), where students showcase their talents to the LHC community and beyond. Dance troupes rehearse weekly and provide students with a supportive and engaging environment to express themselves through movement.
Performance Arts Groups
Students will develop foundational and advanced performance skills through lessons, ensembles, and groups, fostering critical analysis, creative thinking, and confidence in the Performing Arts. They will explore voice and movement in a fun and engaging environment through improvisation, games, short scenes, and one-act plays, while also refining their ability to communicate and express ideas effectively.
Students will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in key performances throughout the year, including the Drama Soiree, Eisteddfods, and other College events, culminating in two major performances in Terms 3 and 4.

Instrumental Music ensembles aim to establish an advanced level of performance for Senior ensembles and continue to foster confidence, enjoyment and commitment for junior ensembles to ensure they achieve their goals set in partnership with conductors.
Our Instrumental Music Program caters for all skill levels of students. Within each of the areas of strings, band and vocal, there are two levels of ensembles. EG: Symphonic Band (advanced) Kelly Band (intermediate/beginner). We also offer extension ensembles such as clarinet and flute ensembles. All ensembles have many performance opportunities throughout the year.
We also offer Private Music Tuition for students to further develop and extend their skills. Students are involved in informal performance recitals for Parents & Caregivers which are organised by Music Tutors.
Lourdes Hill College participates in the Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival (QCMF) as well as other extension opportunities such as the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) and Australian Honours Ensemble Program (AHEP).
Practical Arts at Lourdes Hill College combines utility with a creative edge, empowering students with tangible skills that extend beyond the classroom for everyday use and appreciation.
