We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lower Strings Tutor starting in January 2025 to take small group lessons for cello and double bass and assist in string ensemble rehearsals.
The position is primarily for the Year 5 & 6 Immersive Music Program, with the possibility of some private lessons in the senior school during the school day, and after school lessons for Years 3 & 4 students as part of our School of Music program. We are looking for an energetic teacher who will continue a high standard of pedagogical delivery to grow and develop an integral part of the string program at the College.
Qualifications: Tertiary Music Qualification
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrate the ability to inspire, recruit and motivate students of all levels and with a variety of musical ambitions.
- Ability to prepare students for AMEB or other music examinations to a high standard.
- Ability to monitor and encourage student attendance at rehearsals and concerts.
- Ability to monitor and record student attendance at lessons.
- Ability to assess student progress throughout the term and provide a written report for each student at the end of each semester.
- Communicate with parents/carers on student progress or organisational matters.
- Assist in supervising and attending concerts and events that involve the string ensembles.
- Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of group teaching and ensemble management particularly for Upper Primary years.
- Ability to contribute and work both individually and in a team environment.
- Ability to also teach Upper Strings an advantage.
