LHC and Coles Help Educate Children in Myanmar - 11 November 2016

A small school in Myanmar will have a permanent reminder of the partnership between Lourdes Hill and Coles Carindale when they receive $500 from a recent ice cream fundraising event, “Brain Freeze for Myanmar”, held at the College this term.

After recently visiting the school in Myanmar, Lourdes Hill teacher, Ms Trish Linehan, was so moved by the school’s lack of basic educational and sanitary needs including pencils, books, desks and soap that she wanted to do something to help.

“The school is located in a very poor area and, with no government assistance, it relies on donations. This money will go a long way”, she said.

Coles Carindale played a vital role in the fundraiser by donating all ingredients, including ice cream, toppings, cups and spoons. The “Brain Freeze” crew comprised students Kate Johnson, Lydia Argyros, Becky Mackay, Amy Lubrano, Natalie Otway, Isobella Piscioneri, Liliana Neame, Indea Fergusson, Caitlin Kearney, Sharlott Shi and Kate Rawson. The girls willingly promoted the fundraiser and gave up their time to ensure the event was a hit.
