America or bust for three Year 7 students - 28 May 2015

Three LHC Year 7 students, Ellie Barbagallo, Ella Haddrill and Sophie Nakamura, will be taking their problem-solving skills to the world stage next month, as they compete in the Future Problem Solving International Conference at America’s Iowa State University.

The former Sts Peter and Paul’s students, together with one other teammate from the same primary school, received the invitation to attend the conference after taking out second place at the Future Problem Solving National Finals in Melbourne last year.

The girls make up one of just two Australian teams represented at the event, taking place in mid-June.

During the conference, Ellie, Ella and Sophie, together with their teammate, Charlotte, will be required to complete a 12-page paper within two hours, on the topic of intellectual property. They will also be paired with a team from Washington State to compete in a talent contest during the two-day event.

The girls’ coach, Sts Peter and Paul’s teacher, Mrs Carolyn Burchill, will be accompanying them on the trip, along with their families.

The entire Lourdes Hill community wishes the girls the best of luck!
