|SPARC Leads ‘Clean Up Lourdes Day’ - 11 March 2015|
The Lourdes Hill College environmental group, SPARC (Students Protecting and Restoring Creation), held their annual ‘Clean Up Lourdes Day’ during lunch on Friday 27 February. The event raises awareness for environmental issues and promotes Clean Up Australia Day which was held on Sunday 1 March this year.
The stewardship of the earth is an important aspect of Catholic Social Teaching and a value that the service group is committed to promoting. 2015 SPARC Captains, Ella Decouto and Alana Pepe, led the students on a clean-up race around the school with the winning team of Ella Sendall, Anna Michajlow, Gemma Galovic, Sarah Boevink and Alicia Exley receiving Tuckshop credit for their efforts.
Very little rubbish was collected during the race as Lourdes Hill College students demonstrate great care for the wonderful grounds they are so blessed to enjoy. The fun event was less about ‘cleaning up’ and more about encouraging students to be more environmentally aware.
SPARC would like to thank Cr Shayne Sutton for her gift of ice-blocks for all participants and her ongoing support of the College.
During Term 2, SPARC will be holding its annual Recycled Fashion Show, where students will have the opportunity to showcase their design ability using only recycled and recyclable materials.
