Jessica tops the state in writing competition - 10 November 2014

Year 8 student, Jessica Pickett, has received a High Distinction certificate and medal for achieving the top score for Year 8 in Queensland in the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) writing competition.

This annual exam competition, facilitated by the University of New South Wales, was entered by the College’s high achieving students from Years 8 to 11.

Entrants were asked to construct a piece of writing that was marked according to genre, grammar, syntax and punctuation, and spelling.

Jessica’s score placed her in the top 1 per cent of Year 8 participants in Australia and she was the highest placed student in Queensland.

Jessica was congratulated for this exciting achievement on College Assembly by Ms Robyn Anderson.

Another eight students also received Distinction certificates, placing them in the top eight per cent of entrants.

Congratulations to: Year 8 students Zara Baily, Lydia Blunt, Lucinda Gallagher, Anna Michajlow, Darcy Smith; Year 9 students Grace Cooney and Lucy Scanlan; and Year 10 student Lydia Argyros.
