Resourceful women to tell their stories - 18 August 2014

The Good Samaritan Centre will resonate with the stories of resourceful women at the Circles of Life Women's Forum from 7:00pm on Wednesday 27 August and students from LHC are looking forward to being part of it.

Organised by a committee led by Year 12 mother, Carol Macarthur, the evening promises to be a wonderful celebration of womanhood. It follows the highly successful inaugural Women's Forum held last year at St James' Church, Coorparoo, which attracted a huge audience (standing room only). Everyone who attended vowed to attend again and promised to bring their friends. Hence a larger venue was required and we were very happy to volunteer the GSC.

So what can you expect? There are three outstanding speakers who are keen to share their experience of being a contemporary woman. Suzy Wilson, Mary-Rose MacColl and Rhianna Patrick will each give her perspective, based on the very different lives they have lived. Kelly Higgins-Devine always makes an entertaining MC whilst another talented LHC parent, Kathleen Noonan, will share some of her own wry observations, under the title, "And Another Thing".

LHC students will contribute in many ways. Guests will be treated to a carnival atmosphere on arrival, with a bevy of LHC buskers helping to put everyone in a receptive mood. LHC ushers will ensure everyone knows where to go and our hospitality students will be ready to serve soup and bread from 6pm. Meanwhile, we will have 20 singers as part of a Combined Catholic Girls' Schools' choir who will perform during the forum. Further entertainment will come from one of our very talented past students, Astrid Jorgensen.

One particularly pleasing aspect of the forum is that all proceeds will go to the Good Sams Foundation which exists to support the work of the Sisters of the Good Samaritan and to support victims of domestic violence.
