A flowing river of peace closes Term 2 - 01 July 2014

The Feast of St Benedict was celebrated with a very engaging Mass under a flowing “river of peace” on the final day of Term 2.

The Good Samaritan Centre was decked out with swathes of material to represent peace as staff and students gathered in prayer. Fr Pan Jordan was the celebrant and he invited the Student Mission Team to share their reflection on the Gospel of the Day.

The text from Matthew’s Gospel reminded us that good trees bear good fruit and it is by our fruit that we will be known. The Student Mission Team took the analogy further, urging the congregation to be aware of the “soil” in which we are planted to ensure we have ideal growing conditions.

Another highlight was the presentation of the inaugural Passion for Peace Award. Cecilia Wockner from Year 10 was recognised for her commitment to the Benedictine values through which she consistently demonstrates her commitment to the community.
