Students PAWs to consider animal welfare - 20 June 2014

Animal lovers from across the College have united to establish a new service group known as PAW (Promoting Animal Welfare).

The group was formed after a substantial number of students expressed a desire to enhance awareness of animal welfare issues, as well as to assist various organisations in the community who support and protect animals.

The group has already been busy with two recent events.

On Sunday 18 May, a number of PAW members attended the RSPCA Millions Paws Walk to raise funds for the RSPCA.

Later in Term 2, members of the LHC community joined forces to donate blankets, towels and newspapers for the Animal Welfare League (Queensland) Beenleigh Rehoming Centre and RSPCA Wacol to protect the animals in their care during the cold autumn and winter nights.

PAW is currently planning future events for Terms 3 and 4 including a Cupcake Day for an RSPCA fundraiser on Monday 18 August.
