|Footy girls hit the Gabba - 28 March 2014|
Tens of thousands of football fans will watch our LHC AFL girls take to the Gabba this Sunday for the 2013 premiers’ march, at half time as the Brisbane Lions take on the Geelong Cats.
It will be the first Brisbane Lions home game for the 2014 season, and large numbers are expected to attend.
The Lourdes Hill AFL juniors, who were victorious in last year’s Youth Girls Cup, have been invited to participate in the march alongside other male and female AFL premiership teams from 2013.
The Youth Girls Cup, previously known as the Jonathan Brown Cup is a round-robin style carnival held each year.
Last season the Lourdes Hill team claimed victory by a narrow margin of two goals, with Caloundra State High School coming in second.
Two of the players, Sarah Crew and Mary Ross (both Year 10) were lucky enough to be photographed with Lions rookies Archie Smith and Daniel McStay on Monday, for a news story appearing this week’s South-East Advertiser.
Pictured here are behind-the-scenes images from their photo shoot.
