Mirragin Moments: Year 12 Celebrations - 06 November 2018

Congratulations to our grade 12 Mirragin students, Ella Doyle, Sasha McLeod, Tahlia Ridgeway and Holly Wilmett.  This term they, along with over 170 other Year 12 students attended the BCE Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Year 12 Graduation Liturgy at St Stephen’s Cathedral and the QATSIF Scholarship Graduation, held at the University of Queensland.

Both of these events recognised and celebrated the achievements of Year 12 Indigenous students as they approach their final weeks of High School. The girls and their families listened to a number of guest speakers, mostly students, who shared their own educational stories. Ella Doyle’s mother, Joanne gave a moving address on behalf of all QATSIF parents. She shared a beautiful Aboriginal proverb at the QATSIF Celebration, upon which we can all reflect.:

“We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love... and then we return home.”
