Madeline's STEM Connect Honour - 25 May 2018

Recently, I had the honour of being accepted into the STEM Connect Mentoring Program. This is a program for students in Years 10-12 who are interested in pursuing a career in STEM and is run by Robogals Brisbane. Each student accepted is paired with a mentor (STEM university student) who is able to help the student learn more about what it is like to study in university and to discover what courses might interest them.

I was paired with an Information Technology (IT) student and got the opportunity to meet her and discuss university life at the launch night. In addition to this, as a student in the program I have been invited to a networking evening where I will have the chance to participate in a Q&A panel and meet with industry representatives from various STEM related fields. This will allow me to gain more insight into different career options for my future.

This program has been an amazing opportunity to discover more pathways after school and decide whether a career in STEM is for me. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in STEM and I hope to learn more throughout the rest of the year from both Robogals Brisbane and my mentor.
