|An Afternoon Tea with Shared Purpose - 11 August 2017|
Last Friday, Lourdes Hill College welcomed Brisbane Broncos CEO, Paul White, Orange Sky Laundry General Manager - Operations, David Tubb and Year 8 LHC student Madie Bennett as special guest speakers to the third annual Homeless Outreach Afternoon Tea.
Over 100 guests attended and were both inspired and moved as they listened to Paul, David and Madie tell of their experiences as they offered a helping hand to those who live on the street.
Outreach Captains, Chelsea Groundwater and Liliana Neame, were the MCs for the afternoon and said that the LHC Outreach Team hosted the annual event to not only raise funds but to also increase awareness of the growing number of people who are either homeless or houseless.
The event was part of a broader fundraising program including a silent auction and raffle. To add to the awareness campaign, College Service Captain, Maddie Hampson, and her team arranged for students to bring in much needed items of toothpaste, toothbrushes and bandaids to donate to the organisation, Making a Difference, which offers a grass roots approach to those in need.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to Rosies, Orange Sky Laundry and Making a Difference.
